About Us

Creekside Antiques is a charming shop owned and operated by Beth and Dana Beach, a local couple who have lived in Chester County for many years. They purchased the shop in August 2008 and have successfully added a variety of high interest items over time. Approximately 20 dealers participate and add even more diversity.

If you visit us frequently, you will see a large turnover of items as our stock is constantly changing.

About Downingtown

The shop is located in Downingtown, PA, which was first known as Milltown since it was the location of the last mills on the edge of the unsettled western frontier. A "water corn mill" was first erected in 1716 and a grist mill in 1739. The deteriorated structure of the mill, as well as the mill race, survives to this day and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1761, John Downing opened a tavern on the east side of the Brandywine Creek.

During the American Revolution, Milltown began being known as Downing's Town and was used as a location for storage of food supplies. After the war of 1812, the village name of Downing's Town was changed to Downingtown. The development of stage coach service, and subsequently rail transportation, from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh through Downingtown influenced the growth and prosperity of the village. New jobs became available and the population grew.

Downingtown's rich history is readily apparent along Lancaster Avenue where numerous historic structures line the street. The East Lancaster Avenue Historic District, with its 20 historic structures, was placed on the national Register of Historic Places in 1979.

As stated in the February 2010 issue of Philadelphia Magazine's "10 Awsome Neighborhoods to Call Home": Things you get: proximity to the Turnpike entrance; great dining at Firecreek and Amani's; scenic jogs and bike rides along Struble Trail; drivethrough coffee shop Coppertown for vegan smoothies; a "fishing rodeo" at the duck pond.
Downingtown is conveniently located between Lancaster and Philadelphia.
